Dais Godforms in the Elemental Rituals

I was asked again today whether the godforms used on the dais in the 0=0 through 4=7 rituals differ between grades. The short answer is yes, both in the original Golden Dawn and in the later Stella Matutina.

Evidence for this appears in the ThAM paper “Of the Gods of Egypt who rule above the Pyramids of the Four Cherubic Squares in Each Lesser Angle of the Four Tablets of Enoch.” There, the names of the godforms are derived from the Air Tablet of the Enochian system.

What emerges is that the Enochian Chess dais godforms used in the 2=9 (Air) Grade correspond directly to the Kerubic attributions of the Tablets, specifically the Air Tablet.

According to the Z and ZZ documents, the dais godforms for the 0=0 and 1=10 rituals run in parallel with the Earth Tablet. This gives us two clear examples from the early Golden Dawn where the dais godforms align with the back row of the Enochian Chess layout. From there, the Water and Fire grades can be reasonably extrapolated.

Additional material comes from drawings I copied from Jack’s papers (via Campbell, who obtained them from Garstin). These show further variations of the elemental floor godforms.

From the Whare Ra temple in New Zealand, Tony Fuller kindly shared Frank Salt’s Hierophant’s notebook, which includes yet another set of elemental floor godforms, distinct for each grade. By contrast, I am informed that some American temples maintain that the dais godforms remain unchanged from the 0=0 arrangement throughout all grades.

Readers may draw their own conclusions on that point.

When the dais godforms are correlated with the Court Cards, the full extent and logic of the system becomes much clearer.
